Anyone paint axel nut?

I tried searching, but I either get 0 hits or 8 billion...

Anyone painted their axel nut? I would like to at least prevent mine from rusting, and thinking of hitting it with some clear coat. Anyone done this? got pics?

thanks!

I sure you could, hit it with some clear coat. I doubt it would do any harm, just make sure you avoid the threads.

But I see no need to do this.

I dunno if painting the axle, nut will make it look that much better. Might as well just get a center cap if available.

right, no center caps. I like the raw look of the axel nut but can't stand rust.

The overspray is going to be hard to keep off the car. When I had my wrx I decided to do some minor touch up to the calipers. I taped up everything, so I thought. Ran a claybar over the fender just to check for overspray... ended up turning into a 2 day detail!

A thin coat of Silver anti-sieze works fine for me, although it is covered with center caps on my car. I still have a 12 year old Eclipse GSX with non rusted axel nuts thanks to coating it early on.
