Ok, so it seems that you are after a good performing street tire for both wet and dry and AutoX is a maybe down the road. One of the difficulties in weeding through tire performance is not all tires are offered by all vendors. For example, Tirerack does not offer Nitto or Falken but does offer Dunlops. So when Tirerack tests their tires, Nitto and Falken are missing making comparo to the other brands difficult to impossible. In addition, we do not have any measures of the NT-05 in wet.
That said, it may be possible to make some determinations for those that have been tested. Specifically, Blacktrack found the NT 05 to be superior to the Star Spec but under dry conditions. In addition, he also tested the Yoko Neova in wet and found them to be excellent. Tirerack rated the Neovo: dry=8.64, wet=6.98; cost=$307. The Dunlop Star Spec had : dry=8.64, wet=7.57; cost=$191. So the Star Spec had equal dry traction as the Neova but significantly better traction in wet and the tire costs $116 less. Now the NT05 costs $167, some $24 less than the Star Spec.
So it comes down to cost and uncertainty that will drive your decision: The Star Spec is not as superior to the NT 05 under dry conditions but you know the Star Spec has very good wet traction. Therefore, the question is, do you want to pay $24 per tire more for the Star Spec with known excellent wet traction but a step down in dry traction to an unknown wet traction in the NT 05? In addition, the NT 05 has a stiffer sidewall (97) than the Star Spec (93) meaning a more harsh ride in the former relative to the latter. Since you do not intend to track this car in the immediate future, read, for the life of these tires, and you are primarily driving yourself around (as opposed to passengers vis., more weight for the sidewalls to support), I would go for the Star Spec unless something comes up on NT 05 wet traction relative to the Star Spec.

Stock tires are the best as long as you are not after wider profile tires.

The A13c is definitely a good summer tire but at their current price of $327 ea you can obtain the Star Spec for $197, a considerable saving.

that was a mouthful, but knowing me i dotn even take the X out in the rain.i just stay my *** home or wherever i am until it stops raining.duh of course its still goin to be wait but im not the crazy enough to go crazy on wet streets.with that said ill prolly focus more on dry tracking then anything else with the hint in mind that i might need some tires that also do well in the rain.but here is another question i have.figuring out the size of wheel i want is crazy.all i know is the first xxx is the tire width and the next xx is profile size and the next XX is wheel size but what is this thing i here about offset?what is that?i wanted to get 19's but the tire shop i went to said the the 19's i want has the wrong offset.so the guy said 18 would fit perfect.but y not the 19's what wrong with the offset? why would it be wrong if the only difference is the wheel size?i want to keep the stock configuration
245/40/18, i i really dotn want a thinner tire and i dotn ever wanna have to worry about rubbing or anything liek that.do u think u can shine some light on this?the reson y i dont wanna make the tires wider is becuz i dont wanna worry about rock chips on the side.i hear so much abotu that but i really dont worry about it now beuz i have the aero kit.so i really dont wanna go past them

First point, one can never know when it is going to rain so it is possible to drive into a storm; you will need to have wet traction under those unforseen conditions.

Second, if you are concerned about getting sand blasted when replacing the OEM 245/40/18 with wider tires, then stick with OEM. Be advised you will still get road debris chipping away at your side walls even with OEM; to compensate you can install "mud" flaps to significantly reduce this problem if you can accept the look; check in "Show and Shine, Robevo has a good source for them.
Finally, the purpose of replacing OEM tires with wider ones (and associated rims) is for either performance (larger contact patch) or appearance (racing look) or both. The choice is yours.

Honestly, get whatever is cheapest and will offer you the best tread life. For a street tire, NT05s or Star Specs are a waste. You won't begin to make use of the traction they are capable of and you'll quickly tire of paying $800 every 8,000 miles.

Sorry, but not all of us purchased Evos to buy cheap tires and get good tread life. One of the biggest reasons to buy this car is because of the handling, and I don't think most people are going to sacrifice that to save a few hundred bucks.

You aren't sacrificing handling because you really can't approach the limits of these cars if you're only driving them on public roads.

thanx guys u have been a real help!im pretty sure im goin to get the falken 615's.it sounds like a real popular performance tire and falken just in general r a good tire for simply road use and longevity.im goin to stick with the same OEM size tires and go on from there.ill post pictures when i get them!
