Quietest Tires Possible?
Quietest Tires Possible?
What are the absolute quietest tires for an X MR? (Not looking of performance)
I'm looking at tires and wheels for long distance driving when I take my wife on vacation. She has complained about road noise and would like a set for these specific moments.

You could go with a set of less-aggressive summer performance tires. Two examples would be Kumho Ecsta SPT. I put them on my Evo IX and they were much quieter than the stock Advans. Or, you could go with General Exclaim UHP tires. They are as quiet (or possibly quieter) than the Kumho tires. Neither of these will perform like the stock tires, but they will perform at an acceptable level for someone who is self-desribed as "not looking for performance." There are plenty of other options out there to choose from.
Or, you could go with a set of all-season performance tires. Pretty much any all-season tire will be quieter than the stock Advans. Plus, they'll give you better grip in wet weather (if you need that). Be sure to get ultra high performance all-season tires that way you'll have an OK level of grip and handling.

yokohama Advan S4 tires...
I have had them on my 8 for a couple of years now. Damm good tire, quiet, performs very well, especially in the rain.

I have been using the PA3 for my winter setup and it is super quiet compared to the summer ADVANs that come stock on the X. Their sidewall is a softer too, I get more lean in turns. You can probably reduce the lean with higher tire pressure, but you definitely want to make sure they are at their recommended pressure when the weather is bad.
