Help with Coilover Choice

I am looking at getting some coilovers for my daily driven MR. I have narrowed it down to the HKS Hipermax III Sport or the Tein Mono Flex. Which one do you guys think I should go with? I dont have much experience with coilovers so any advice would help! Thank you!

um,
well if you really only driving around town you really don't need coilovers.

I would go with a high quality set of progressive rate spings

Nothing is wrong with my OEM. Just wanted to lower the car and firm up the suspension a bit

For the street, HKS or KW3s. Neither use pillow mounts so will be quiet. HKS are cheaper and probably easier to set up but KWs have more adjustment so more likely to give close to a stock ride quality for DD. Have heard that HKS can get close also.

From everything I have seen, the Japanese coils tend to be oversprung for US roads. Have heard that JICs are decent but have heard complaints about warranty claims from the company that imports them to the US...have heard mixed reviews about meagans, Bcs and Teins in regards to longevity....In comparison, the KWs are warrantied for life.

Everything else is more expensive.

the main thing with the BCs is that they have pillow mounts which tend to clunk after time.

What if I go with Swift spings on the stock dampers? Would that affect the life of my dampers?

If you go with HKS just get the non-sport version. it will suit your needs better. If you want to spend a little more, I'd recommend getting the KWs. I just got these and it rides better than stock. You will have to adjust the compression and rebound which is somewhat itme consuming.

I'd recommend just getting the swift springs for your use and spend the money you save on other mods. As far as longevity of the shocks, it should last since the springs are designed to work with stock shocks.

Just the recommended setting from KW for now. I want to get an alignment first before I start messing with compression and rebound settings.

your roads must be smooth....Most say the base settings are pretty stiff.

I vote for the TEIN mono's. I've had no problems with the flex since I've put them on..which is when I got the car. There's no noise and I don't think it's any rougher than stock ride wise.
