Need some help on picking new tires.
hey guys so I am at about 26,000 miles on my X.
my advans are pretty bad =[ and balding.
I havent used the car for racing // autocross // track or anything just been daily driving for the past year and couple months.
but I do commute to work about 80 miles a day rougly 4-5 times a week depending on if I can car pool with anyone.
anyone recommend any tires? looking for more tread life i really dont care about performance but something with atleast some what performance since it is a evo haha.
Was pretty set on falken ziex's pretty cheap and tread life isnt so bad any other recommendations?
I am currently on 5zigen fn01 rims but its the exact same size as stock rims so same tire size as well

I'd look at something like Falken FK-452, Yokohama S-drive, or BFG g-Force Sport. They're the next step down in performance from something like the Dunlop Z1 Star Spec or Nitto NT05, but they still perform well and offer longer tread life, rated at 300 Treadwear or higher.
I went with the BFG g-Force Sport myself, I just need my damn wheels to show up so I can put them on the car!

I'd say any of the above are fine + the Falken Ziex 512's. I had them on my last car and had pretty decent grip with good tread life.
That's saying a lot on a 275whp FWD Volvo. They like eating tires. (Hence the AWD switch!)

I guess all prices can change but probably similar, resources are tirerack.com

I found the Sumitomo HTRZ III's to not only be more affordable, but also offer substantially far more grip in turns. Given... that might be somewhat due to their size, 275's. Looking for my second, smaller set, right now.

Well, I can tell you what NOT to buy.....and those would be Falken 452s. I guess I didn't do my homework when I got them and wasn't impressed. My next set will definitely be OEM (ie Advan A046). They are pricey but I think the best tires for this car.
Good luck.
Good luck.

I would say S-Drives.
Musca, you should probably look into Dunlop Star Specs. They're way less in terms of price, and perform better than stock IMO. Instead of knocking out over $1200 bucks for tires alone, you spend in the region of $650.

I currently have g-Force T/A KDW and the tread life for a DD seem really good. In fact I have some NT05's waiting to go on but I want to kill the tires I have now before switching but it is taking a long time.
I got them through Costco for pretty cheap, especially if you get them with an instant rebate which they have pretty often. Also, they seem to do well in the rain (I am in Seattle) as I haven't had any issues hydroplaning, etc.

The two longest lasting tires I found in 245/40/18 and 265/35/18's are Goodyear Eagle F1 AS and Michelin Pilot AS. The F1's have 420AA treadwear and Pilots have 500AA. I went with the F1's because they were $150 less a tire.
