Blue X with rims?

we all know the evo x paint is thin and that the advans throw up everything on the road. Why not switch to a less 'sticky' tire?

I've seen some people go up to 265 ties..whats the point of this? if you are trying to make the car faster the extra rotational mass/inertia would be making you slower. Atleast in theroy.

Also post up pictures of blue x with rims.. trying to decide what color/make. I really like work rims, but I know they are heavy as a *****.

wider rims need wider rubber, wider rubber = more grip

Unless it's winter, wider tires in snow equals less grip!

Why not switch to a less 'sticky' tire? Why not run 4 spare donuts?

if you're willing to sacrifice handling for the sake of paint then please do not buy an evo. fast does not mean just mean fast line

dude.... the evo is a car meant to turn, tires are probably the most important part of your whole car and will totally determine how it drives, thats why you want the widest and stickiest rubber available to you. who cares about the paint, do what the car does best. thats why a 285 width tire is much faster than a 235 width, because the extra rubber helps you turn and racing in a straight line is for pussies

Are you joking? You must be joking about putting on tires with less grip. You really must be. Most people drive their Evo to turn. If you want to spend 35k to go fast in a straight there's better choices out there... Plenty of pics of blue Evos with aftermarket wheels in the official color threads...

^ what did you get grinds?

what about 3m clear bar turning yellow and crap after so many years?

Guys I come from drag racing back ground....= smallest rims with the smallest size tires up front with the fattest tires in the back. I know the evo is made to turn, I actually regularly attend scca/ autocross events. just 265 seems alot of tire. I didnt know if people were doing it for a performance aspect or trying to stuff as much tire in the wheelwells trying to have a "baller" status.

Does anyone know if the X has a restrictive valve in the stock clutch line like the evos 8/9 did?
