Rotors for the X

OK, I'm trying to track down what's available.

2 Piece:
Girodisc
DBA 5000 series

1 Piece:
Girodisc
DBA 4000 series
Centric (Tirerack)
IPX Sport
IPX Premium
EBC

Does anyone have any thoughts on the DBA vs. the Girodisc in the 2 piece? There's a pretty big price jump there... especially comparing X vs. VIII/IX.

And where are the other vendors on 2 piece rotors?

I plan on getting the Girodisc front 2 piece rotors, I already got the rear 1 piece in place.

Finally found some info on the DBA 5000 rotors:
http://www.livermoreperformance.com/dba_rotors.html

You weren't kidding on the price jump of the DBA 5000 series rotors from Evo 8/9 to Evo X, I'm betting lack of competition.

Are the 5000's available for the rear? That site only lists the front.

Does Brembo not make any, other than the stock ones of course? They might have slotted and crossed drilled rotors for the X.

You don't want drilled rotors. They crack.

They might be OK for the street, but definitely not for the track.

Unless you track your car a good few times during the year. I would not fork up the extra on a rotor. I would rather invest that in a set of great pads. But that's just me.

My plan is Girodisc 2 piece front and 1 piece rear.

I've been on the track 4 times this year and autocrossed 15 or so times already. I have at least one more day and quite possible 3-4 more this year.

That's what I'm leaning towards... but I can get a decent price on the DBAs.

I spoke to Performance Friction and they said that they may come out with a front 2 piece floating rotor with aluminum hat for the Evo X if they get some more interest for them.

They shouldn't be less expensive for the initial cost than single piece but should cost less to replace as you are only replacing the rotor "ring". The biggest changes with my set for the IX was the ability to shed heat way faster and they are lighter. I am now looking into changing the X rotors..and wondering how the aftermarket rotors will compare to the stock 2 piece on the X-MR ? I did see the Giro prices posted on their site..but I am looking for input from users of the 2 piece setup(s). Thanks, Pete

My understanding on the difference between the stock MR two piece rotors and the Girodisc 2 piece rotors are:
- the iron used in the stock rotors is junk and the girodisc rotors are ductile iron and will take more heat and dissipate it better
- the internal vaning on the girodisc rotors (all of them) helps to pull air through the rotor, cooling it as it turns.

There are potentially differences in the way that the floating pieces attach and allow for movement of the hat relative to the rotors.

The internal vaning on the DBA rotors is their "kangaroo" vaning, which uses a bunch of different shapes to help cool the rotors.
