I would say with cardboard on both sides and then shrink wrap them up really well or nylon straps. Is how I have had them shipped to me.

It is really up to the customer and their preference. Also it will depend on the tires you plan to use (are you re-using existing tires or purchasing brand new tires, TPMS, etc..).

Generally if you have a nice local wheel/tire shop they will be more than capable of mounting/balancing wheels/tires without any issues. This sometimes isn't the case though and we do have customers calling for replacement wheels as the shops are sometimes careless and will drop a wheel, scratch a wheel, etc.. If you aren't familiar with your local shops it may be best to get a complete package from a vendor you can trust. Another issue that arrives is ideal tire sizing. Often generic wheel/tire shops are not familiar with your car and may recommend a tire size that isn't ideal for the car (typically not a problem with the Evo X but we've seen many issues with 350Z's that must use certain tire sizes to keep the VDC system happy)

We offer full wheel/tire packages on all wheels sold through our shop. We have tons of experience mounting/balancing and will 100% guarantee that the wheel will not be damaged in mounting. We also pride ourselves in taking the time to properly package our wheels/tires so we can avoid any potential damage in shipping.

Here's some info a customer of ours posted in a previous thread
"I want to mention that the packaging of my wheels and tires from wheeldude.com was first rate - each wheel was packaged separately in its own box, and great care was taken to ensure that the faces of the wheels couldn't possibly get damaged in shipping. There were multiple layers of cardboard inside the box on the front faces of the wheels, and the face of the wheel itself was protected by a soft fabric "baggy" that comes with some aftermarket wheels."
"The balancing was done cleanly with taped weights on the backsides of the wheels. And all of the tires were evenly inflated to about 37-38 psi upon arrival - nice."

if only everyone would go to the trouble to do this. That is a very good example of how to ship wheels! should be in a how to section.
