Daily driver tire experience.
My stockers are torched after a fun weekend at The Dragon so it's tire shopping time. I had figured on Z1 Star Specs but after having my X for a 10 months and yet to track it, I'm not sure I need ultimate grip for a few weekends a year on mountain fun runs. Tirerack's most popular purchases include 3 ultra HP all seasons as well as the Star Specs. I'm in SE Va so no snow (rare) but temps in the 30's some. I wasn't planning on all seasons but it would be nice to get longer tread life. So....
1. Anyone running Eagle GT, RE 960 AS or Conti DWS? If so, do you feel like it dulled the character of the car too much?
2. What kind of tread life are you getting on the Star Specs if you DD your car?
3. Anybody running tires they don't like?
Thanks.

Every Evo owner that I know regret getting "all" seasons for tires.
No point in getting an Evo and going for "comfort - all around" squishy, gripless tires.
Basically you'll be mismatching the suspension - tire combination.
I had a set of Michelin PS2, and couldn't wait to get rid of them. Way too unresponsive for my taste.
I'm on Bridgestone RE01-R right now, and love the performance and the noiseless ride. I believe they stopped making them, and RE-11 is their replacement.
Anyway, for the Evo, try to stick with summer tires, and get a set of "all season" to deal with the cold. Just my personal opinion.

I got 6k out of the stockers. This is with no track time, no speeding tickets, only no braking on lefts on the street (gotta have some fun). Stopped by for a belated tire rotation and they said there was no point, since all were in the red. I am looking at the eagle gt, as they seem to not have the terrible life and have some amount of grip. I am just wondering if there were some better tires that would still use stock rims. I am not worried about stock size, simply because my speedo seems to be 4 or so mph fast at 40 anyways, so larger tires should make it more accurate. I heard some people fit 255/40r18 or 245/45r18 without issue, so I am looking into that now.
