Rumor has it that the RT-615K comes out in March with a tread pattern that is close to the same as the current RT-615. I'm currently debating on the RT-615K, Z1 Star Spec, and the NT-05.

Depends on where you live, I guess.
Overall comfort is better for tires tuned to provide a more streetable ride.

I've ran RT615s before and my current RE01R are 10x quieter and more comfortable while offering more grip. You are definitely getting more than just grippy tires. I find the stock Advans to be in the same category as the Azenis - good grip but lacking in refinement. They make a ton of road noise and very rough over bumps.

That is if you actually care about streetability. I commute daily in my car while doing track days and autocross on the weekends so I enjoy having a nice ride after a long day at work.

I'd still spend the little extra money for the RE-11. (I know it's not on your poll)

Best street tire I've ever had, both on street and on track.

not in the same class as the other tires. In fact, I'd say it gets the "overhyped SUCK" award of the day.

Those are two classes of tire below the tires listed in the poll. Those Hankook's are Ultra High Performance summer tires...same class as the stock A13C Advans. The tires listed in the poll are all Extreme Performance summer tires

For an ultra high performance tire, they do a nice job. But they simply aren't near the performance level of those listed in the poll.

Haha, well I just got a set put on today. My initial impressions is that the sidewall is very soft and the car rides like it is on a giant cushion of air; it has a real "floating" feeling.

I bought them because I figured I could always go up in tires, but would probably hesitant to move down. So we'll see how the Evo's treat me and then move up from there. I considered the NT-05 and Star Spec, but the Star Spec didn't seem worth the extra money for someone who "says they want to, but is not sure if they will have time to" attend HPDE events. And the NT-05's scared me because of their treadwear. Granted I got about 18K out of my stock Advans, but again, I wanted to try the Evo's first to really gauge my needs. I am not worried about tracking the Evo's. I've done HPDEs in Yokohama ES100's without issue, so I won't hesitate on these Evo's should I get the time.

P.S. - I voted for the NT-05 here. It will likely be my next tire of choice if I am not happy with the Evo's.

not to jack the thread but do you think spending an extra 3-400 on the ad08 over the nt05 is worth it? and what will last longer.

The Sport Maxx TT is a nice tire but for this thread it is really down on grip compared to the other Extreme performance category.

I'd be interested to hear your impression of the Hankooks over time. Car&Driver* did a 10-tire shootout and the Hankooks took a close 2nd place to the Z1s. I think the Hankooks outperformed the Z1s in some categories such as wet performance, noise, and of course price but the Z1s were superior in dry performance.

Also, their reviewers noted that the Hankook sidewall was clearly softer than the Z1s but they put up very respectable results nonetheless. I didn't vote because I don't have a X and I've never run any of these tires. FWIW - I think the BFG KDW2 or NT, or whatever they are referred to suck. They have moderate grip, moderate sidewall, and they are loud as hell with noticeable gas mileage loss. The positives are the tread life is lasting forever and they were relatively cheap when I got them.

*It is Car&Driver, so take that for what you will...
