You would have to beat the living crap out of them and even so it is bound to happen once or twice considering there are so many people out there running on powdercoated wheels. You should be perfectly fine powdercoating wheels.

Most places that do wheels dont go over 400* when baking the powder coat. Which makes it so the wheels dont crack or break. Just make sure to ask how high they bake it before you give them your wheels

Mine were done at 360 fahrenheit. No problems ever. Daily driven + tracked over 35k miles.

I had a set of volks powder coated and didn't have any problems with the integrity of the wheel. I did have a problem with the quality of the work. I went to a local shop and didn't realize they subcontracted it until after the fact. The first time they came back the PC'er had packaged them to soon and hadn't let them cool. Not a pretty sight. The 2nd time they came back they were fine, but with a small blemish.

In researching my options I found a place that was a little farther away that specialized in PC for cars. I didn't think it was worth the extra travel so I went local. If I had it to do over again I would have gone to the experts.

And if I recall correctly, some of the stories about wheel damage resulting from powder coating have some additional details in the fine print. Something like "I used tuner nuts on a stock wheel and had them installed with an air wrench".

Thanks so much for all the info. I've been in touch with a few tuners and seem to be getting good info. I want to go with white NT03's on my white EVO X, so should be interesting.

They will be fine. A reputable shop will bake the wheels at a lower temperature.
