All 4 Wheels Bent?????

Hi folks
Took my X in for yet another tire rotation, wheel balance check, and aligment check and....

All four wheels are bent!!!! Out of round!!!!

Has this happened to anyone here with the stock Enkei wheels (GSR)?

Now, I have some miles on the car (35,000) and am on the second set of tires (Conti DWS), but I think this is not right.

My last car, 2003 WRX, I had 126, 000 miles on it and four sets of tires with absolutely NO problems what so ever from the OEM rims.

I called a local Mitsu Dealer and they were complete jerks about it over the phone.

Despite road hazards etc I would think an expensive set of wheels like this could withstand normal wear and tear. And I do mean normal wear and tear. This car has never been tracked, autocrossed, off road, raced etc etc. In fact its 90% freeway miles that are on it.

I could see maybe one, or two wheels bent if I had hit anything....but all four????

Any thoughts on this?

I did. They came and got me, took me to the back, and spun them on the machine they use to balance the wheels.

I had a slight vibration in the front so I asked them to check the balance on each wheel. The guy had to stop due to the wheels being bent/wharped-

I find it very hard to believe all four wheels would be out of round - perhaps try taking it to another shop to make sure their machine wasn't broken?

not gonna be covered under warranty... most bent wheels come from potholes and curbs...

but on all four...considering the sidewall too, this guy must be driving over a minefield on a daily basis.

Thats what they said.

However....Ive driven the same roads Ive always driven, surface streets in the Midwest and trips to TX and KY.

Ive never had this problem before on ANY car Ive owned no matter what or where I drive.

And....this car is very well taken care of. Its my baby and gets the best of anything and everything to include not abusing it on roads or highways.

I find it hard to accept that Mitsus top of the line product cannot take 35,000 miles of normal wear and tear on good paved roads when a midlevel Subaru product can go 126,000 miles without any quality problems.

All this while wrapped with fairly soft Conti DWS. I hate to think what will happen when I put RE-11s on.

I am really dissapointed.

Sigh.....

I bent two wheels on the X in the first 8000 miles. The stock yokos have a stiff sidewall and the light weight wheels can't take NJ roads.

I doubt your wheels are any more bent than they were from the factory...

And again, the Evo is a 15k ****box with 10-15k worth of AWD system and engine in it. Not a 30-40k car on its own merit. Once you come to understand, believe and accept that then all the things you'd say "I can't believe, blah blah blah" will become so much clearer

I live in Michigan where we have the biggest potholes in the USA.. you'd have to hit the OEM rims pretty damn hard to get them to bend. I've hit some large/deep potholes and I have no bends at all. So, you'd definitely notice if you hit a bump or pothole large enough to bend a rim. The last time I bent TWO rims (on my old lancer) was when I was going through I-75 in Detroit and there just happened to be a missing section of pavement in the middle of the highway. It was about 1ft across, as wide as the lane, and about a foot deep and I hit it going ~65mph.. it slowed the car down a good 10mph and felt like my wheels were about to come through the dash. Bending all four rims would be even more obvious.

The wheels aren't warped, they're out of round?
Are the wheels hub or lug centric and is he using a lug adapter when balancing it?

Interesting point.....

Ill go to the dealer anyway to have it looked over before the bumper to bumper runs out in a few days.

Hopefully theyll have a tire tech there that can look at the wheels-
