Damage from factory wheel weights

I have a brand new MR. If I pull the factry clip-on wheel weights off now, will it be less likely to be scratched up underneath or is the damage already done and I have to leave them on forever? I'm just wondering if the damage is from install or from rubbing. Anybody know?

The wheels get blemished as soon as they put those sh*tty lead weights on the outside. I have them too on my brand new X MR and couldn't believe they would do this to these wheels. You could probably fix them up with some sort of touch up paint, But im not sure on the color code of the wheels.
Wished they would've put them on the inside or used the sticky type that goes on the inner portion of the wheel.
