damaged one tire... what to do?

Hi all,

My X has now close to 9K miles on OEM tires. Yesterday, as I was driving home from work, the flat tire indicator lit up and since I was close to a nearby autorepair/tire shop, I decided to limp my way there.

They inspected the flat, and told me that there is a tear on the sidewall... also that the rest of my tires looks like they are wearing badly and needs to be replaced. I was shocked! only 9K miles and all tires need replacing? I looked at em and they don't seem to be that bad. I had the wheels aligned 5,000 miles ago, and couldn't believe what they told me. I don't even drive my X hard, I just DD it at work... sometimes in spirited mode.

So anyway, I don't know what to do now... new tires would cost around $450 for a set of Nexen n3000s. Should I go ahead and replace all tires, or find a used one just to replace the damaged tire.

I'm also thinking of buying a new set of wheels, since I've always wanted to put gunmetal rims. I've set my eyes on this cuz I like the style:

Problem is, they only make em @ 18x8 (no 18x8.5)... so I don't know what to do. Suggestions/Advice?

Also, another option is I have a set of of spare tires pulled from my wife's BMW. (2) 225x40x18 Runflat tires which are pretty new (she hated the OEM runflats cuz they were rough on the road). Will they be fine on the X stock wheels? If so, should I put them in the front or rear? Reason is I don't really want to spend on tires right now, cuz my wife is looking into some major spending for replacement kitchen appliances.

Same problem here bro. I drive a EVO 10 and I have about 10,000 miles and all four tires are almost bald.

I too have been looking for new rims but $$$ is tight right now.

I thinking just some all seasons, mount on the stock rims, deal with it till I have the funds for a nice set-up.

Good luck man.

DO NOT DO THIS!!!!

AWD vehicles have to have the same size (and in all honesty the same brand) and same tread depth on all four wheels or you'll blow up the fancy (and expensive AWD) system.

If you put those Nexus **** tires on your car you're doing a disservice to your evo (you're giving up a ton of performance).

9k miles is a little low for daily driving, but definitely not out of the realm of possibilities.

Buy 4 new, good tires. Expect to pay $600-1000 for the tires.

^ I was already suspecting about this LOL (being AWD), but I wanted to be sure. Oh well... are the Nexens really that bad? I've been reading reviews from several sites, and a lot of people made comments that the N3000s are perfect for DD if you are looking for inexpensive tires (I don't race or go to the track).

I believe Motortrend pointed out during their long term test how quickly the OEM tires wore, just replace them all with some nice all seasons.

I just got Continental DSW's for my Evo. Theyre awesome so far, they received all 8.5's or better in Tire Racks ratings.
