Springs

Just had a question about the quality of H & R springs compared to the Eibach springs quality? I'm wondering how the fitment is and I hear that the H & R springs are also lower then the Eibach? I would appreciate the feedback! Thanks

I have had both H&R and Eibach on my 335i... H&R are usually lower then Eibach and for the reason the Eibach have a more comfortable ride while the H&R is pretty rough, as performance go... I felt that the Eibach handle far better then the H&R

That's not what a number of people on this site have said, in fact just opposite.

The Eibach springs make the Evo X sit lower than the H&R's, and some have said the ride from the Eibachs was too soft.

I had H&R springs on my old Mustang and they were excellent (gotta love German engineering). A little stiffer than stock but the ride was still good, felt more like a "performance spring" for sure, but that's what I want, that and something that is livable for a daily driver.

Since I don't plan on taking my Evo to the track, I just can't see spending all that money and getting a weak sauce drop from Swifts, a front high look from the Teins, or the getto slammed look of the Eibachs.

Can't wait to have my H&R's and Whiteline RCA kit installed!

H&R USA does not release any spring rate numbers for the Sport Springs, only that they are 20 to 25% stiffer than stock.

I have read this data though on H&R's springs on multiple sites for the Evo X:

Springs ...................... Front Rate ........ Rear Rate ...... Front/Rear Drop

Stock GSR ...................... 3.5 kg ........... 2.8 - 3.7 kg .......... 0.0" / 0.0"

Stock MR ........................ 3.5 kg ........... 2.9 - 3.8 kg .......... 0.0" / 0.0"

H&R ............................... 4.2 kg ........... 3.4 - 4.4 kg .......... 1.4" / 1.3"

Eibachs ride like crap, but the drop is just about perfect. I've seen a few pics of the H&Rs where they do look lower than the Eibachs, but I haven't seen the H&Rs in person.

Good info DarwinX. I've been looking at getting springs lately and it seems like most of the info on the sites only relates to the Swifts and the Eibachs.

Anyone have any info on the Tanabe springs?

Glad this question came up. I installed the H&R springs Friday night at 11pm and boy was I surprised. The car looks way better with these springs. I was not looking for improvement in looks per say but it looks better.

Ride quality is staggering I am shocked at how well these springs work.

That good.

I don't know about H&R but the Eibach springs sit way too low. Don't they wear out the stock struts prematurely?

Messed up his tires? Did he not get them aligned after the drop or was he rubbing? If its either one of those than he should not be surprised.
