Well, in defense of the industry, it's not like anyone could make something that is much better than OE Bilsteins, so there's not much of a point to making an aftermarket shock.

this

people seem to think if it's not "aftermarket", it's not good. Bilstein makes some of the best shocks out there, AND offer a re-valve. seriously a win-win if your Evo already has them

Would there be interest in a custom valved Bilstein with a custom sport type valving (non-adjustable)? Firmer than the OEM Bilsteins, still comfortable, readily available, etc.

Yes, if you raised the rebound, in particular. Take it right to the edge of packing down the OE springs. Think Mark Daddio's old Neon. (This would be for a DD that runs in B-Stock and S-AWD.)

if it was also a shorter body damper to match your springs it'd be perfect. I'd just get those and forget about my plans to upgrade to coilovers in a year or 2

Shorter body is cool, but if you want to attract the B-Stock/S-AWD folks (of which, I'll admit, there aren't that many since the car can't stay close to its old brothers), then the location of the perch must be the same as OE.

It is cool but it may make things more costly and there are the stock auto-x peoples to consider.

I will look into it though.

The body can be shorter in Stock. The perch just needs to be in the same place (i.e., ride-height can't change). But I agree that an increase in cost will turn off autocrossers, as we don't need any more travel for this. And, yet, shorter could get you some rallycrossers, as we need all we can get for that.

This would be a full replacement shock available from us, no need to find your own Bilsteins.

Does anyone - Andrew? - have a dyno plot of the OE MR Bilsteins? I'd enjoy having a discussion of what might be done to them. And it goes without saying that I'll take the first set, so I won't even mention it.

Any ballpark idea of the price? I'm contemplating whether to wait or pull the trigger on a decent set of coilovers...
