Lowering Springs Installed
I had the dealer install my Swift lowering springs yesterday and prior to me even driving my car, the tech warned me that there would be noise (mostly rear) as the springs settle.
The tech who installed the springs is looked upon pretty favorably by local EvoM forum members, so my initial reaction is to trust him.
Well on the drive home, there was a considerable amount of noise/clunking from the rear suspension; not isolated to a specific road condition or driving condition.
I have about 70 miles and maybe 24 hours since the install and the noise is making me crazy. Mostly because my brand new car (500 miles on the clock) sound like a hoop-D.

Is this normal?
If yes, how long until the noise subsides?
If no, what is likely the issue?
Thanks!

i'm pretty sure having clunking and other noises is not normal. i did mine in my garage with my buddy and there hasn't been a peep ever.
it's weird that he'd even tell you that there would be noise.

I just got off the phone with Swift and they said that the springs should not be making more than a little squeak... not a noise consistent with hauling river rock in my trunk.

It was as if the dealership was saying "We're not very good at installing aftermarket springs, so you're going to get noise".

I had a performance shop install my lowering springs and Whiteline RCA kit...no noise whatsoever driving it out of the shop that day. Sounds like your shop didn't index the springs correctly or didn't reuse the stock spring isolators.

Sounds like you are missing a bushing.. If you hear clunking noise over bumps Im 99.9% that it is a bushing. I installed my springs and test drove and had a clunking noise over bumps.. turns out some how I lost a bushing for the rear but thankfully I work at a dealership and was able to find a bushing to fit the coilover...There should be no noise at all once install properly. I would look at the back coilovers from the trunk and see if there is a difference between the two..You should visually see a bushing on top when looking at it from the trunk.. gl
I'm probably headed back to the dealer on Thursday. The tech who worked on my car is actually a member of this forum and he told me that the paper pusher receptionist in the service dept took the car off him before he had the opportunity to investigate the rattle. He aligned the car and then was going to look at the issue.
Hopefully Thursday will be successful.
