stupid tpms thingers

So, we all have them. I know I'm not a minority in the sense of owning more than one set of wheels. I run a set with high performance tires in the summer and a set with all seasons in the winter.

Currently, I have the Mitsu tpms's in the stock wheels. Which leaves me staring at a stupid orange dash icon. I mean, it's manageable. It beeps, you hit the info button and it just stays there all the time. Not the even of the world but I would rather it be gone.

Looking through previous threads it appears that the sensors Mitsu uses are measured for multiple things. One of which being rotation. Therefore some of the tricks people do to trick the sensors won't work.

I'd be fine with purchasing a second set of sensors and having them installed on my other wheels. However, I've read that the tpms's have to be sync'd with the vehicle and only one set can be sync'd at a time. As well as hearing a special programming tool is required to do so.

My question is what are other people doing about this? Is everyone like me, just dealing with the dash icon with one set of their wheels?

I'm looking for advice/solutions/alternatives.

I saw a thread mentioning a tool that was supposed to be released upwards of a year ago that was intended for an end user to be able to sync the sensors. However, the thread just died and there is no more information on it.

Discuss.

I've been waiting for word on when or if our cars will be supported by the EZ-Sensor from Schrader International. Their phone number is (866) 987-8767 if you want to call and leave a message.

I've sent them emails, and I just left a message because in about 2 months I'm going to want to put my winters back on and I need a set of TPMS for them. I have the OEM TPMS on with some X Wheels with Summer tires I picked up in the spring I moved them off the stock RA wheels.

I managed to stretch out my time waiting for these EZ-Sensors to support our cars by not buying OEM TPMS for the winters and just moving them. But I sure as hell don't want to move them back and then have to mount and balancing the tires again.

Yeah, I created that stupid old thread about the tool you're talking about. The only option right now is to have the dealership reprogram your second set of TPMS.

Two questions stemming from your response.

1. Do they have to be sensors purchased from Mitsu?

2. When you say reprogram, does that mean the the other set in the other wheels will have to be reprogrammed when I put those wheels with the other set of sensors back on?

Implying every time I switch the wheels on the vehicle I'd have to have a dealership reprogram the sensors?

1. Not sure.

2. Yes the sensors have to be synced everytime you switch wheels. Sucks.

I got new rims(w/o tpms sensors) and got the warning light. My ques is... Is the triangle with the exclamation point associated with that warning light?....or is it a separate fault in the system?

1. JNZ Tuning has the best prices on oem Mitsu parts, so I suggest buying there.

2. The tool used by the dealer is simple to say the least. They plug in your cars info (year, make, model). Hit the search, it links to your car somehow. Then they go to all 4 corners to pick up the signal from the TPMS. And the link is complete. Your car doesnt even need to be on a lift. It takes all about 5 mins to perform.

3. I have a friend that works at a local Nissan that does this for me for free.

I am close to a solution with the orange programmable sensors. More info here:

http://www.orangetpmsusa.com/oe-prod...em/opss-gen-1/

I ordered the sensors and the tool, got the ID's of my current sensors, and ordered a new set of tires for my winter setup, and when i get everything i'll let everyone know if it worked.

I'll never need the tool again after that so i'll either resell it or rent it out to people

Artnsx, I hope it works. From what I heard, the sensor for the Lancer(SC36AA) was not programmable. They did not have the programmable sensors out yet at that time. Though, I see their website has changed since the last time I was there.

If you look at the Lancer row, OPSS isnt checked. not sure what that means but i'm assuming it's not compatible right now. Please let us know if it does work though!

I've since been living with the tpms icon on my car since my sensors stayed on the stock rims which I'll be swapping to for winter soon. hopefully when spring comes again, some solution will be out that wont require us to visit a dealer/costco since I know i'll be bitter again about that light.

Wow I did not even think to look at that column, but yea I see that OPSS isn't checked off. I assumed that all of their sensors were programmable, i thought that was their whole selling point, and now that i'm looking at it again half the ones on the list aren't even programmable. I know they're probably cheaper than OEM, but what the hell's the purpose of buying their damn sensors if you can't program them....

I feel stupid, i'm pretty sure they're just non-programmable OEM style sensors that will be useless to me
