MR BBS lugs...
MR BBS lugs...
I'll be powdercoating my stock MR BBS wheels here very soon and wanted to ask a question. Before when I had my '09 GTS, I had the lugs powdercoated as well, with zero problems. I have a special socket from snap-on that's made specifically for things like this, as to not chip or crack the powdercoat (hard interior plastic on the socket rated up to 110ft/lb). So the lugs on the MR BBS wheels are EXACTLY the same as my GTS ones were, except my BBS wheels came with a locking lug on each wheel.
Now you can't powdercoat the factory locking lug and still have it be functional (due to the thickness of powdercoat and the awkward shape of the factory locking lug). Since the BBS wheels are actually worth a pretty penny (about $900 a piece I found out), I REALLY would like to have locking lugs. Now the only way to get around this is to get an aftermarket lug set with locking lugs. Only problem is the factory lugs are an awkward shape and not sure if they make the same in aftermarket.
Anyone have any suggestions? I'll be getting a 60% gloss black wheel and want the lugs to match. I'll be getting the TPMS sensor nuts anodized as they are aluminum.

That is getting pretty picky LOL. I'd say just keep the one locking nut silver instead of powdercoating it. It won't look bad from that far off.
And if you really think it looks bad, (and you are powdercoating black) use a sharpie marker and make the locking lug face black.

everything will be black before i'm done and there will NOT be any sharpie, lol. well maybe on the wheel weights because those only come in one color, but thats IT. i just am asking advice on the lugs
Wow, sorry if I offended you with the sharpie comment LOL. You might want to get some black wheel locks then - I'm sure someone makes them. Gorilla maybe? Someone's gotta make some, although could be tough finding one that fits in the stock wheel.
Well post some pics when you get it done!
