Looking for right suspension

I'm trying to find coilover kit that will suit my needs. On my last car (2007 STi) I had shocks and springs combo from Impreza Sti Type RA-R. That was the best suspension for my tasks ! Easy to tune - 4way single adjustable. Smooth ride over bumpy roads. Good at track. No need to rebuild every 10.000km.
I'm trying to find something similar to that suspension. Unfortunately there are no aftermarket springs and struts combos for Evo X, so I'm looking into coilovers territory. Main thing I need is smooth ride. I don't need a car that tries to fly off from the road on bumpy or rough road. I don't need quadruple or triple adjustability, single will do fine for me. And I'm looking for coilovers that will not need rebuild for atleast 40.000km.

40% city / 40% highway / 20% track usage
cost <4000$

Do such coilovers exist ?

Currently I drive on Swift springs with MR Bilsteins. I don't like it at all. I think the problem is progressive rates of swift springs. The car is very nervous on bumps.

Having the same needs as you I decided to go with KW Version 3.
Here in Poland that suspension is positioned as second top, right after the Ohlins.
And last but not least it was tested on couple of Xs and proved to be fantastic in all those conditions, even on bumpy and holed roads.
It can be adjusted to virtually any conditions.
It was also said that KW v3 is a big, big step over Tein Super Street.

I hope above helps.

Under 4000$ is a big enough budget to go with Ohlins and never look back... It's most likely the most comfortable suspension that will yield results on the track.

No doubt.
But if he goes with KW there stays 1000+ in the pocket

BTW, nice line-up here: Russia, PL, Slovenia.

KW is out of question. On terrible Russian roads, KW starts to clunk and leak after 5000-10000 kms. Confirmed by my friends with evos and stis.
Right now I think new european Ohlins DFV or AST 5100 is my best choice. Maybe with custom rates Swift coilover springs.

Well, our roads do not fall far away from yours and I never heard any complainings but I bet you know, what you're talking about.
I hope mine will not leak!

Ohlins, then?

Yes, gonna be Ohlins. BTW Tein HG is very popular choice in Russia for everyday driving all year round. I will leave my stock suspension for winter, and will use Ohlins for summer driving.

You could go with the entry level JRZ's if you wanted. The RS series is a very comfortable ride and you have the choice of your desired spring rates. They are a couple hundred over budget but well worth it for the daily driver/track guy. My second option would be Ohlins or KW's.

I have 15,000 miles or over 20,000 Km on KWs driven mostly on Cleveland roads which really suck with NO issues. Still like brand new. So I disagree with KWs not being reliable.

that said, ASTs and Ohlins are excellent COs. The 5100s cost close to $6K though...so you could go through 3 sets of KWs for the same money.

I agree with you that KWs are reliable COs for their intended use - smooth german roads or tracks. I drive on another kind of roads. Such kind, that cannot be named "road" in most other countries. I'm replacing my "forged" BBS wheels because 2 of them are heavily bent.
Last time i checked, 5100s were ~3000$.
