whats the main concern with the stoptechs? I'm still trying to decide between stoptech and ferodo ds2500 (which are about twice the cost of the stoptechs)

What's wrong with the Stoptech's? They a great DD pad and don't make any noise.

I am currently using the project mu b force and they are actually pretty good. The only reason I am using them because they were basically given to me. There is minimal brake dust compared to the stock ones. The only complaint is that they will make noise at slow braking but on high braking they work like they are supposed to! I usually hit up the canyon's here in California and I really recommend these pads.

Feels good to have clean rims for a whole week.

Another good pad to consider is the Race Brake 500. They are extremly low dust and bite great. Not near the cost of the ds2500.. Alot of people on here run either though with good results.

This (RacingBrake ET500). I had them in my IX and plan to either get them again for my X or maybe try the EBC Redstuffs.

noo, i shoulded reworded differently, i meant i just wanna avoid answers like those two, i still wanna explore my options, and wanna know if the higher end brakes that are claimed for both light track and street use really worth the 200 per pair of brakes, so i'm just trying to get some of your opinions on these brakes and other suggestions on brakes i've never heard of and what your review

I know you don't want to hear it, but I run StopTechs and have for years. I autoX with them as well, No Complaints at all and they are VERY affordable.

If you want to spend more money for a pad that you really don't need by all means. But I will tell you this, if all you do is canyon carving? the Stoptechs are all you really need.

I agree with the HAWKS. I have run 2 pairs, the HP and the HPS they suck something bad IMO. Noisy, and chewed up my rotors. I will never buy them agian.

I think I'm going to go with the the stoptechs or the RB ET500. I'll save my money for other upgrades.

Is either of the two choices less harsh on the rotors or longer lasting?

RB ET500s are perfect for you. low dust, great initial bite, no fade, no noise. I run the ET800s all around but thats prob a little more aggressive than what your looking for. look at M.P.G for great prices and service. GL
