Lower or no Lower

Hey i was in a predicament if I should Lower my car. I hear handling is a bit better stock actually. Kinda don't want to deal with the stiff ride. Any of you guys planning on using lower-springs ( not coiloverrs ) is it really worth it or should I just get a full body kit to make it look lowered?

Lowering should slightly help handling with just springs. However, it's mostly a looks mod. If you're happy with the way it looks then don't bother in my opinion.

The thing is its sitting so high I can see the front springs..I was trying to muniplate the eyes by just getting a body kit...cause I do like how the X handles and i heard lowering your car on springs will just messed that all up.

Should research a bit here on the forums... it's only lowering the vehicle TOO MUCH that it will mess up handling. lowering slightly with the correct spring rates will increase handling. General consensus is that the swift lowering springs are pretty good, but the drop on the original swifts weren't big at all... i think the swift spec R's are much better and they advertise handling does not get affected.

I personally have eibach prokit lowering springs, which many people say drop the front too low and affects handling... i'm not a pro driver at all so i can't tell the difference =P

swift springs spec -r is the way to go huh.... -_- i may considered that after I get my rims/tires setup. soo many MODS >_< my Ti upper pipe and 3.5core IC and intake coming this Thurs from ETS. Will take pic. Next step is turboback then tune...then perhaps a CWEST body kit. then if needed I'll lower my car. just don't want to have that big bumpy ride. Cause now when i take corners I feel a bit of a body roll cause it's sitting so high.

Any suggestions for a decent Turbo back? I was thinking to go with UR, they have that nice twin tip Ti ...which other companies don't provide.

Hey, you can keep your stock springs and get the exact look you're going for:

http://www.034motorsport.com/chassis...t-p-21602.html

Price is pretty steep, but well worth it IMHO. Mine's in the mail, or so I'm told.

A stock height evo with a body kit will look bad.

So what? Seriously. How is that a problem? You bought an AWD rally-inspired automobile designed for point-A to point-B on virtually any surface. It is what it is.

You have one of the best handling cars available anywhere at any price, and you stand a much greater chance of screwing it up than improving it. Don't fall into the forum/meet/non-driver trap and put together yet another Evo that can hardly make it out of its own driveway without understeering. Good luck.

While it is true that we all bought an AWD rally-inspired beast, The reality as I've noticed it is that maybe 1%, at a high estimate, actually see any rally time. I'm sure there are hundreds of people, I'd guess even the OP, that drive only one the street. an important detail, because assuming we all only see cement, there are ways to reign the handling in on the Evo. These things of course will be at the expense of the offfroad capabilities of our cars.

I personally will be lowering my car on a set of KW Variant 2 Coilovers, however not to the "rolled fenders are required" on stock tires low. I agree with the OP that I don't like the height/roll of the car. that 1 to 1.5 inches will make a huge difference in looks, while providing increased handling for my tarmac only driving style.
