Camber question
Camber question
Hey guys,
I have a 2011 Evo MR and was looking at getting the KW Variant 3 Coilover System...I browsed alot of different coilover posts, and the one thing I was unsure of with this kit is do I need anything seperate for getting the camber in line?I'm planing on going down 1.5" in the front and 1" in the back, its a daily driver.
Forgive me for being so clueless.. I havent modded any cars since my old 1995 integra ;p

You can get up to -2 degrees camber front and lil more than -1 in the rear on the stock suspension. So with the KW coilovers you will be able to do that and more. If the coilovers come with camber plates, you should be able to get up to -3 degrees camber front.
KWs don't come with camber plates, only camber bolts. You should be able to get what you want from the front. They have an oblong bolt you rotate to get the camber you want. It's like the stock bolt except the stock one is either -1 or -2. since you're going -1.5, you shouldn't have any probs. If you go to a higher number later like -3, you'll want to look at buying some vorshlag camber plates as rotating the camber bolt for more negative camber moves the tire closer to the strut column.
The rear will still be adjusted with the toe-centrtic and camber-centric stock bolts. If you look under the rear of the car, you can see two arms that touch the hub that connect to oblong bolts.

Comparing the KW V3s and the Ohlins isn't really a fair comparison. The Ohlins are about $800 more. That said, I've never heard a single complaint about KW products performance or reliability. I have seen people complain that they didn't go low enough, but that's not what they're designed for.
As for alignment, that's been covered so I'm not going to add anything other than this:
Camber isn't what destroys tires, it's TOE that destroys tires!
