Before I click the BUY button.

With so many Evo smart people here I figure I would post this before I press the buy button. My finger is on the button but maybe you guys can take a look and see if my list looks decent.

GTWorx Tarmac Springs
Whiteline Rear sway bar
Whiteline end links
Whiteline Roll center kit.

I am going to take it to a mechanic to install so I want to make sure I am not missing any odds and ends that would stop them from installing. I am trying to keep it cost effective yet still be able to feel the results. If there is anything you would add that isn't going to jump the cost up a crazy amount but will add to this I would appreciate any advice.

Thank you for your time.

I'd honestly skip the end-links. Other than that, nice simple yet effective setup you have there.

Thank you, and just so I understand. The end links just won't make that big of difference compared to the stock ones? I would be happy to skip them, they aren't cheap and I can get spacers for the wheels instead.

Thanks

I did the Whiteline rear sway and the GTWorx Tarmac springs, it's almost night and day.

I have a front sway but haven't figured out what all it entails to install that thing. Lots of crap in the way.

I don't think they'd (end-links) make a difference at all, I have the Whiteline rear bar and my stock links are working perfectly fine, and have been for over 30k miles with the bar so far.

Yea I have read a lot of good things about whiteline. From my understanding of suspension, adding a heavier front sway will cause more under steer. So if I add just the back and leave the front alone maybe it goes more to over steer. Although with the computer taking over for some of that not sure exactly how it ends up. But on a normal car that's the way it should work. I am sure there is more to it than just sway bars though.

Thanks

From my research the Ichiba V2 seem to be a good brand. A guy at work says he knows somebody that can make spacers for half the price but not sure if I want to trust something like that. Although I guess if you have a CNC machine or whatever is used to make them it shouldn't be too tough. Probably go with the Ichiba though. Thinking 15 or 20mm. with the stock GSR wheels. Not sure yet. I don't like the too wide look where the tires are almost sticking out of the fenders so I have to figure out which ones look the best.

If it matters at all to you, the Roll Center Kit bumps you up quite a few classes in SCCA auto-x. I've been doing fine without it, and posting all my experiences in my build thread in my sig (there's more feedback on evo x forums.com version if you want to read more)

Front Sway Bar is a total PITA to install as you have to drop the whole subframe/axles. I haven't done it purely because of that, and since I'm happy with my overall balance so far, I'm even less inclined to do it.

Thanks for that info. I haven't gotten into any sort of racing yet. As of right now I think I am more inclined to race full tracks such as track days if I ever got into it. I'm more of a speed type of person and from what I know of auto-x it's more technical and lower speed, correct? Although it's not beyond me to find no interest in something today and tomorrow be totally immersed into it.

I don't know anything more than a casual browse of the Internet about auto-x. Should I change my mind someday the roll center kit won't stop me from doing it right? It will just put me in a much higher class? While on the subject and a little off subject for this forum, is there such a thing as full road course racing but just racing the clock so that you really aren't on the track trying to pass each other? I wouldn't mind something like that where if I wreck my car it's all on me and not somebody else making a mistake and hitting me.

Thank all for the info. Now I'm too damn excited about doing this. I'm not sure if it's normal for somebody my age to feel like a kid on Christmas eve!

BTW anybody know of the best place to get these parts? I was looking to buy the springs from the GTWorx site but any good deals online for the whiteline parts. Decent price and shipping times to California? Thanks

You will like that setup for sure.

As for the endlinks, it depends on what setting you think you might be using and how hard you plan on driving the car (in the corner specifically). Kracka is right about not buying them if you plan on running the softest and even the medium I am sure you would be fine if you weren't going to be tracking the car and aren't a super aggressive driver when it comes to the corners. But if you plan on running the stiffest setting I would suggest the end links. First day I got my whiteline sway bar I tossed it on the stiffest setting and started playing in the corners and bent the stock drivers side endlink just with aggressive street driving. They won't improve anything, they will just keep things from breaking.

Just something to think about...

I will NOT skip on the endlinks! They made a huuuuge difference, even on the street, once they are paired up with whiteline endlinks. Just install them on soft setting as whiteline endlinks are little longer (longer means stiffer)than stock endlinks and move it up if it is too soft for your liking.

everyone's experience level is different. I think everyone has hopes of doing track racing, but the reality is that it's too expensive for most (tracking an Evo isn't cheap). auto-x is usually most people's first experience, and after the first event, everyone gets hooked on how low-cost and low-maintenance it is. I'm not planning to track my car until I have enough savings to prepare for the worst

if you're saying you're more interested in tracking than auto-x because you don't think it will be as fun, that's wrong. if anything, auto-x is mentally faster than track racing in some ways. there are people who came to auto-x FROM track racing and had to adjust to much faster reactions, thinking, and reading. because of that, it's PLENTY fast for most

and depending on how competitive you are, if/when you get into auto-x, you might get really competitive and start looking at what class to compete in. I believe RCK puts you in Street Modified, which is a much higher-budget and super-hard class to compete in. all food for thought - pretty much I would say get your feet wet if you can by local events and you'll have a better idea of what you want to do
