Difficulty Braking Hard (Hawks Street)

i changed my 08 EVO X MR oem pads for hawks street pads when i reached 55,000km a few months ago. since then, the bite is really soft. actually the bite was soft for a few months before that as the oem pads were wearing. so my braking has been soft for 7-8 months and i can't even remember how strong it was when i first bought the car new.

the amount of effort i have to put into breaking hard is disheartening. the same amount of force applied to my 328xi would make it stop dead in its tracks, while the evo just coasts to a stop. i have to actually apply a fair amount of pressure with my leg to feel the brakes dig in, and i'm 215lbs. i'm not sure if this is the result of crappy hawks, which got great reviews, or just evo braking system in general. i'm not expecting really touchy braking, but i feel like the amount of force required to brake hard can lead to accidents if i'm not careful.

any opinions? i service the car at the dealer according to the manual, almost to the day. i've had the big service at 48,000km (30K miles) and i think it included a brake flush.

Hawk street pads (HPS and the ceramics) have very poor initial bite. I do not like them. I like their track pads but for the street I would look elsewhere.
