Complete Brake Failure?!

2012 GSR 14,000 miles

No aftermarket brake upgrades

While driving on the highway I had my brakes completely fail yesterday. When I first pressed the peddle there was very little pressure when pressing it again it went straight to the floor! Also my "brake service required" came on. Checked brake fluid it's full, no visible leaks. Turned the car off and on same issue. Let it sit over night same issue. While the car is turned off peddle still goes straight to the floor and does not stop the car. Lucky my e brake is functioning.

Anyone had this happen? Dealership doesn't want to look at it since my car is heavily modified

This may sound stupid.. But have you checked to see if your brake pedal disconnected underneath the dash. Possibly your cotter pin fell out, making your brake pedal useless because it is not connected to the brake master cylinder. Check the pedal.

FYI this is the Evo I-IX section, you'll probably have better luck in the X section.

if it's not what BEKevo suggested your master cylinder took a dump.

StancedEvoX23,

Did you look at anything yourself? You're a braver man than I driving with just an E-Brake.

Update: The bracket that holds my brake line, and ABS sensor in place was not secured to the bakc side of the shock, it was dangling and as a result hit the wheel and ripped the brake line and ABS sensor out of place. This caused my entire brake system to fail

Have you made any modification that could directly affect the brakes?

If not, then the dealership has to look at it, since it's covered by the warranty.

The same thing happened to me. I installed coilovers,so the factory bracket didnt have anywhere to bolt up to after! The line broke, so I replaced it and installed a bracket that hold on to the bolt that holds the strut and then that bracket hold the brake line and factory bracket in place! Problem solved!

My car was "flagged" by mitsubishi for any warranty claims meaning a regional manager has to approve any repairs.

I though it was negligence after taking my car to a shop to have work done but I cant prove it so I dont want to bad mouth there name with out being 100% sure.

Ive sense fixed the brake line (SS) ordered a new ABS sensor ($375) and sold the car because of this whole fiasco

They can flag it, put a big red X in their files, and/or dance around the paperwork naked, but if the mods that you have done aren't linked to the problem, the warranty stands. That's the main point of Moss-Magnuson.
