Toyo or Nitto
Nitto is the sister company of Toyo, and most of nitto's stuff is old toyo technology. I would always go with Toyo over nitto. Anything that toyo phased out or isn't in there line up ends up in nitto's hands.
Oh, and I'm not referring to the "sister company" bit; that we already knew. I'm referring to the idea that most Nitto stuff is old Toyo stuff.
WHICH Toyo, bud? Did you bother to read the whole thread? If you entered an on-going discussion on specific turbo selection and throw out a random comment like "FP ftw!", or "MAP ftw!", expect people to volunteer to help find your helmet. If you swear by a particular Toyo tire, which one? Also, name the other tires you gauge its' success with..
I'm on my second set of R1R's currently, coming from using the stock Yoko A046, Yoko A13C's which I ran on X GSR wheels, and prior to that a set of B'stone Potenza RE050A PP's.. The stock Yoko's used on the 8/9 & the ones used on the X warmed up the fastest from all the above, gripped SLIGHTLY better than the R1R's, & were in my experience a bit more predictable on the edge than the R1R. I could only get 15K out of them going to the cords.. The R1R takes a tad longer to warm up, not as crisp steering feel, breakaway point comes more sudden. Being a directional tire, with performance-oriented alignment specs they developed irregular wear the worst from this group as well. Similar performance in wet, a small bit quieter, & the first set lasted 29K miles. The RE050A Pole Positions took longest to warm up, had less overall dry grip, slightly better steering response over the R1R, marginally quieter, breakaway came the quickest from the bunch but exhibited good manners at the edge. They lasted me 42K miles.
Next tire I want to try is either the new Potenza RE11A, or the ZII's from Dunlop..
