toyo are ****ty.....dont buy T1R or T1S.....if you go with toyo....go higher than that!!!....nitto nt-05 are GREAT!! but they dont last...and under the rain its a little scary.....sadly for you the best tires (from my point of view) for street its yokohama advan ad-07 and ad-08...no surprise there!!!
yeah Yokohama are great, but i can't afford them full price! lol that why i loved my discount 65% off!

Toyo r1r is my tirw of choice and love it . Either one you choose toto Corp wins. Toyo owns nitto tires. From my convos with toyo engineers they keot good stuff for them. Gave nitto some high quality stuff also but not as good as parent company.

Nitto's take too much weight to balance and require frequent re-balancing not to mention they wear unevenly.

How'd you get Yokohama sponsorship in the first place? It sounds like you should work on getting that back...Originally Posted by IRISHEVOX

I was at a car show... actually in Florida... not in orlando... and there was a track opportunity, the winner in each class was offered a sponsership either partial or full. I won FIRST and OVERALL for my catagorey for the show portion and didn;t have to do the track portion.
So i recieved a 65% spondership from Yokohama sports division ADVAN. So i get Advan Rims and Tires fairley cheap...I do not run ADVAN Rims on my car b/c my BBS's are lighter. I am trying to get it back but i was deployed, but they do not care seeing they are not an american based company, i didn;t follow the terms of the contract. I was supposed to do 3 sancationed Races events and 4 shows. I made 2 shows and Zero races.

Not sure why I'm trying to help (since my nonsense detector has been going nuts), but does the SCRA apply to this?Originally Posted by IRISHEVOX

The amount of horrible comparisons being made in this thread is too much to hit the back button without trying to sort some of this out & hopefully giving the named companies a fair chance at having their products compared & looked at fairly.
For starters, comparing tire manufacturers simply by name says almost nothing in favor or against the tires they make. A name is just a name. (Buy a Porsche - Ford sucks! Buy a Boxter - GT's suck! See the difference?) Secondly, compare apples to apples. Not apples to mango's. Comparing the T1R to the NT05 is like comparing an Evo to the ZR1. They are NOT direct competitors. Just as the cars, those two tires are designed to accomplish different things.
Lastly, OP, what do you plan to do with your car in terms of use? A strict DD, occasional track/AX, drag car? If you plan on a pure daily, then recommending the NT05's to you would be like recommending an FP Black on an otherwise bone-stock car. What's the word....overkill? Finally, the tires you SHOULD use on a proper setup will take your suspension into consideration. You can overpower the suspension you have by putting "too much tire" on a car, meaning more grip than the suspension can handle. Likewise, you can have not enough tire with the suspension you have by running tires that dont provide enough grip for the spring rates you run.
What's it all matter, you might say? When Mazda was re-designing the Miata (MX-5?) a few generations ago, they tried out something like 350 different tire compounds on the car before finally settling on the one the engineers felt matched the suspension & chassis just perfectly! ..and most tire shoppers just look for what's cheaper, or whichever brand the forums recommend..

I was so tempted to lock the thread so the above would be that last word, but it would just pop up again elsewhere. Thanks for taking the time to type that out.
