CCW or VOLK opinion

Just sold my Volk Racing RE30's and in the market for some NEW wheels. Narrowed it down to two. I'm torn and would like some feedback from wheel enthusiasts.

My old wheels

Volk ZE40 or CCW Classics on 2014 X in Cosmic Blue ?

I like the CCW's look and you cannot beat the price for 3 piece forged. Only down fall is that they require spacers to clear

The volks look amazing as well. Probably lighter and its JDM. More $$$

In general, most of the advantages of a good 3-piece wheel go out the window when you have calipers that over-hang the rotor-hat by a lot. But you knew that, didn't you?

Well, in case you're wondering, most good 3-piece wheels have a very flat center section, so they almost always need rather thick spacers when you have calipers that over-hang the rotor-hat. This is sub-optimal.

Ray Engineering forging > CCW worlds apart.

But if you're talking aesthetics, then the second photo.

Don't get CCW rims. Only those attention seeking "stance & hellafrush" creatures get those. Get some CE28s and roll with style and great build quality.

Why not go SSR GTV02? I like the color.

They do look pretty similar but I've always had the impression that volks were better than ssr

SSR are in the same league. I know someone that works for them. They are great quality and price especially for the one piece wheels.

Comparing brands isn't totally fair since each brand makes several different wheels.

For example, the Volk ZE40 are Forged Monoblock which is, basically, the strongest and lightest type of wheel construction (outside of unobtanium stuff like Forged Magnesium or Carbon Fiber wheels). Many SSR's are also forged monoblock but the GTV02's discussed here are "Flow Forged" which is kind of a mid-point-- better than cast wheels, not as good as Forged Monoblock both in terms of weight and strength.

That said, it doesn't seem like this discussion is centered around Function as much as Form, in which case looks and cost are usually larger considerations than wheel construction. And in which case, choose whichever option you think looks best. Of the options discussed thus far, I prefer the RE30's.

Should have kept the RE30's.
