XL vs SL Rated Tires

Hello, I’m Kevin, new here and just purchased a 2014 Evolution MR.

I’m looking to get new tires for the stock BBS’s. Specifically I’m looking at Michelin Pilot Super Sports, as they’ve been reviewed highly with similar grip levels but much better tread life than the stock Yokohama’s, plus they’re cheaper. Can’t go wrong eh?

My question is, does anyone have any experience with the “XL” and “SL” load ratings, and which one would be preferable? The XL rated tires are actually cheaper, for some reason. Which Pilot Super Sport do you recommend, XL or SL, which one did any of you go with? And, will there be a difference in ride quality between the two? Looking for the softest ride with these tires.

Thanks in advance.
