Hi,

I'm looking to change my Stock MR Shocks with something new because they are on their way out. I live up north where there is a lot of snow and salt and the Evo X Is my daily. I'm just looking for a replacement that is going to last and work in the winter !

What is your experience with Winter and Coilover ? Any brand that don't get corroded and stuck ?

If you are serious about the ride quality of your car and the build quality of struts, then you have two choices: stock MR Bilstein struts and Ohlins R&T coilovers (for daily you need custom lower spring rates).

If baller, go Ohlins. They are made of high-grade aluminum and I have not heard of them stuck in winter. For the best bang for the buck, you may want to have your Bilstein struts rebuilt. Bilstein no longer rebuilds these, but you can find a third party rebuild specialist to help you.

 

Ohlin's are very nice, but hardly "baller". Can be had fro around $2k from www.performanceshock.com

No need to change spring rates for daily use. They ride very well out of the box.
