HELP: 12k clutch warranty

i just got off the phone with miller mitsu at vannuys. I was calling them about the 12k warranty asking if i could get my clutch brought in to be changed. He told me that they dont cover and clutch replacements if its worn out and i told them i my car has passed 12k and they said that they could take a look at the tranny strip it down at a charge of 780 dollars.........is this right????

i tlaked to a mechanic at my local dealer the other day and he told me that mitus says the tranny drop and pull, and puttingin a new clutch and putting it all back together will take a mechanic 9 hours. this guy was doing it ni 8 but still taht is a lot of work. i would assume that the actual assembel of the clutch is the fastest part of the whole deal. if they wont cover it, might as well take it a shop that isnt factory backed. the rates will be cheaper, and they will put in an aftermarket one for you anyway. my dealer says they will only put the stock one back in. goodluck
ps, total cost of parts and labor (new mitsu clutch) on this evo being worked on was $1193. i am not sure how much the actual clutch cost is from mitsu, but $780 just to tear it apart is probably in that ballpark.

ALot. the labor is around 800 from the dealer and then I think they want around 700 for the clutch but Im not sure on that.

I just got another shop to do my labor for 500 which also include the tranny removal, clutch install and flywheel install.

Warrentees don't apply to evo's no matter what BS the dealer feeds you!

READ YOUR WARRANTY!!!!!

There is no warranty on an EVO clutch, right in the fine print. If you have them rip it down you will be paying no matter what! Your clutch is your's the minute you drive off the lot. No matter what your dealer tells you, mitsu will not pay for a clutch. I replaced mine at 12K also, you will have to bite the bullet and pay for the clutch. I do recommend an aftermarket, check WORKS website (www.worksevo.com). I installed a CK2 with the alluminum flywheel at the same time. If you are changing the clutch change the flywheel at the same time as the clutch change on an EVO is a major project. If you do not have a friend that is a mechanic (not backyard on this job) be prepared for a major bill. I would expect that a mitsu tech who has done the job before could complete in about 6 to 8 hours. It took me and a friend (ASE certified master mechanic) about 8 hours at a Nissan dealership to complete the change.

If you have any other questions feel free to PM me! Yes, my clutch setup is awsome, drives like a dream around town and has all the grab I need for the track. Though I would have gone with the CK3 (twin-disk) if I had to do it again.
