Paint never matches perfectly on any car, any brand. When your dealing with plastics and steel (and aluminum on an Evo) the same paint can look different because of the different qualities of the those three materials. Next time you are at the dealership look at a Torched Steel Blue Eclipse or Endeavor on an overcast day. From certain angles, you'd think they were two tone because the bumper covers can look so different.

Bumper covers are sprayed with a flexing agent mixed in the paint. Toyota bumpers show this well. Fender and door panels not matching? this is strange. The alloy fenders must be painted at a different location?

Paint Bubbling

My paint is bubbling on the back bumper and the side skirt on the drivers side of the car. I have the black. I'm waiting for several things to be done at once. Steering wheel piece at the top of the wheel is coming unglued, repaint back bumper and side skirtm and rebuild my tranny. Oh and one of Brembo calipers on the pass side the clear coating on it is pealing off. Looks like ****.

I was the person who found out that Red doesnt have a clear coat . Get used to this Mitsu paint is the worst. i already know the car is going to turn pink LOL. Just get it repainted or just leave it.

I *think* there is a clear, it is just mixed in with the base coat and the car is painted in one pass (or base over primer) instead of the usual primer, base then clear. It isn't just Mitsu, my friend had the same problem with her red Prelude. She was able to get Honda to repaint it, but the car started to look like *** again after just a couple of years.

Are the 2005's clearcoated?

It was mentioned earlier in this thread that only black colored Evo's are clearcoated. Is this true? I have a Rally Red MR and it looks clearcoated.

the red paint sucks from Mitsu. as long as you clay bar, wax and polish you will be ok.
