hey... im supposed to take my evo back to the dealer on wednesday and they will install a car alarm for me...

they told me that if you touch the car with ur fingertip, the alarm will go off and also is like 2x louder than ordinary alarms...

does anyone know about this kind of alarm?

if not, it looks like i will have to find out myself on wednesday

I hear that the Immobilzer on the car, stock, is really good. That would probably help you more than a louder horn. If the dealer is charging you more than an aftermarket alarm, you should have went aftermarket. Most oem alarms are never as good, but generally, they would just enhance the Immobilizer that's on the car now.

never heard of it

fingertip alarm setting? that sounds like bs
but if so that would be too sensitive. the damn thing would go off too much.
i like the idea of having the alarm 2x louder than ordinary alarms

Thats the BIGGEST CROCK OF HORSE SH*T I've ever heard bro.

1. The alarm being finger tip sensetive... ok the wind, a passing car, a cat that farts would set it off. I dont know about you but I'd get tired of that really quick.

2. If it does go off that often people will do 1 of 2 things, IGNORE it or 2 get pissed and give you a reason for it to go off.

3. In most states an alarm that goes off that much is considered a noise polutant and can be ticketed. I know if I were your neighbor and you had an alarm that was that sensetive, I'd call the cops after a while, then I'd start taking pop shots at it with my pellet gun. Thats uterly ridiculous.

I asked my dealer if there was a factory alarm when I got my evo, and they said no. Just take it to a well reputable electronics place to get an alarm installed, it will be better then this alarm the dealer is talking about, and be cheaper as well. Common, a finger tip? they'd have to install sensors on like every square inch of the car. Neat idea, but not true.

what i know is factory alarms uses the exisiting factory horns from the car intead of aftermarket horns. When the alarm goes off, it will sound like somebody was just honking. Anyways. BADEVO'S right, you wouldn't wanna have an alarm thats fingertip sensitive for some reasons.

20 bucks? u must be trying to get your car stolen. im using a black widow alarm.. it's pretty good.. very sensitive.. but not obnoxious.. the car's stock immobilizer is really good too

The dealer sounds Full of $hit to me, buy any DEI alarm: Viper, python, clifford etc. I have an autopage autostart alarm, but the next alarm I probably get is probably a DEI alarm. Just remember, dealers will say anything to boost their sales. Best advice, talk to a good alarm shop and they will give you the lowdown, cause alarms are their business.
