RS Bashing
RS Bashing
I am getting sick and tired of reading about all the RS bashing. IMHO I think the people bashing are the lazy and possible the young. I say young because most of the older people are buying this car for it's rally heritage. 20-30 years ago, many cool imports had manual crank windows, similar sound deadening, no abs etc. To say the RS is built for the track only, is only half true. It is true in the sense compared to its over-luxed brethen it is the most worthy, but to claim it isn't for the road is absurd. I am enough of a performance freak that I ripped the carpeting and everything else out of my Talon and Laser so I could hear the exhaust note better while driving (plus it was lighter). I only used to dream of the old spec sheet of yesteryear where you started witrh a bare bones car and could build it up like you wanted to (you still can to some extent in Europe). Please stop the bashing of the RS. If you don't understand it, leave it alone, but don't knock it for being more of a man's car.
Tip of the week. For you men too lazy to roll-up windows, but still would like a work out, try driving for a while with the power steering belt removed. Makes for great deltoid development.

Where do u read people are bashing on the RS? I mean for the price and performance you can't beat it! But dont' get mad at the people who want the creature comforts Mitsu added to the GSR. Who gives a **** about cars from 20-30 years ago? I have my car now and I love it.
Just cause it has power windows, steering, doors and that awesome rear window wiper...doesn't mean it's less of a performance car.
I'm not trying to start any flame wars with your post, but it just seems like you are generally dissing everyone who buys the GSR or even the MR cause it has "comforts and conveniences" . I can totally understand your old school thought about heritage of these cars, but ooops, it fell into the next generation!
Ok you can still bash the spoiled kids who's parents bought them their Evos! But that's it ok?

while there was RS bashing before the RS and during it's arrival, the RS is pretty well accepted currently. If anything the MR is the new most hated evo. As an MR owner, it's kinda disappointing to see such unwaranted negativity. I mean it isn't like MR owners are acting as if the MR makes the GSR a piece of crap.
I didn't mean to dis people that bought the Evo 8, I understand some people want the luxuries that it comes with, but I read NUMEROUS posts bad mouthing the RS about it's lack of creature comforts. Just wanted to let those people know that some people like the 'less is more' philosophy. Thanks for reading. I like the MR too. I like them all.
FWIW I think that there should be a larger gap in price between the RS and Evo, but I don't work in the marketing dept for mitsu, so what do I know.
Enjoy your Evo, whichever model you have. Great car, crappy company.

I would think it would be the older crowd that would be downing on the RS more than the younger crowd most people under 25 are lucky if they can even afford any Evo whereas the older folks who make more money expect to get simple conveniences out of their 30,000 dollar investment.
It depend on what you want in an car, the features on the RS is what made me interested, I was origanally buying a wrx w/out the little gay wing till I found out I could actually get an evo without the wing and close to 300 lb lighter than the 8, I was sold and never looked back. Only thing I do not agree is no abs brakes wtf! Oh! I have never had anyone bash my car including sti and other evo owners.
That's what I'm talkig about!
I have an 04 RS and I have had many cars without power this and that and ABS. I just love this car. My fear is that when I'm ready for my next one, they won't make a RS model. This car really gets back to the spirit of motoring, it is all about the driving experience. I've read that porsches in the USA at first had no cupholders until people demanded them. It used to be the case that Germans wouldn't even consider drinking or listening to music while driving because it interferes with one's attention and concentration for the task at hand.
I bought my 04 RS because I compete in SCCA Solo 2 autocross and wanted a real race car. The addition of the front LSD and lack of ABS make it a faster competitor than the EVO 8. It pulls you through tight corners and dose not plow the front end in these types of moves. I am 34 years old and comute 60 miles a day in this car and I LOVE IT AND WOULD NOT CHANGE A THING!!!!!! I guess it is all a preferance thing.
