Considering EvoVIII, any "gotchas"?

Coming from big V8s you might miss the low end torque. 4g63 really comes to life af ter you exceed 3 to 4 k rpm. I own both an STI and evo and that's about the only area where the evo can't match the sti.

LOL, Don't worry about that. As I mentioned, before the Vette, and the Camaro SS's, I did plenty of time with a 13B rotary. The '93 RX-7/R1. Yes, it was twin-turbo, but stock those were "sequential" twin-turbos. I know all about lack of low-end torque.

You had to wind the pizz out of that Mazda to get it to make _any_ power at all. That being said, dayum that rotary LOVED to rev!

I went from a muscle car to the EVO and have not looked back, although I still have the muscle car but I never drive it nor even want to. I have a built up Mustang that I would trade in a second for the EVO that I got. I dont think you would regret getting an EVO, I didn't.

i have about 12,000 miles on my 03 evo and countless time slips from the dragstrip (more than 20), not including the occasional street racing i do whenever i get a chance and im am still on the STOCK clutch. it is holding up just fine for me. i dont know how people are in need to replace their clutch so quicly. i do notice some wear on the clutch and do plan on getting an aftermarket one but not until next season. my clutch is a champ.

Only real problems with the evo that I can think of: A) replacing the passenger recaro when you friend craps him or herself on the first turn; B) 160 mph speeding ticket. Neither of these has actually happened to me (nor have I gotten it up to 160, yet).

Every once in a while, though, I get light-headed when I hit the brakes real hard, I think all the blood rushes to my feet or something.

Guy looks out the window to his right out of the window of his mustang at a light and sees a car with a big wing and utters to himself "silly 4-bangers." You take off and you've already gone ahead, turned around, and came back the other way. The evo driver looks out the window with a big smile and a loud "GOTCHA!"
