N20 is not combustable. It DOES NOT BURN.

the site said 9%-12% increas on most cars and possibly even more with other setups... So to round it off only 10hp for a second or two

Andrew, no offense, but, if it contains oxygen in a gas state, it has to burn. Maybe not explode, but... burn, yes.

If it doesn't burn or combust, what the hell is the point of Nitrous systems in the first place?

oxygen burns only when there is a flame already. it just fuels the flame like someone else said. and im guessing when it's compressed it's combustable..im not sure though, but O2 fuels the flame.

Oh, I agree. I'm not saying that you could start your car with nitrous, but, it'd be kinda difficult to get more horsepower by injecting a non-combustible into your combustion chamber.

doesnt NOS just really cool the air coming in to make it denser. leting you cram more air into the cyclinders for more power?

yeah that was my understanding mobius97.... and when it ignites there was more air to expand.... kinda like how a CAI works but much cooler temo

lol you people need to take a course in basic chemistry. Oxygen is non-flammable. The only thing it is is VERY reactive. When you use the NO2 the gas/liquid is sprayed into the combustion chamber. more oxygen HELPS the combustion process because of its reactivity. when the O2 seperates from the Nitrogen it creates supercool temperatures in the engine. (when any Nitrogen compound is spereated rapid cooling occurs). This cooling and more complete combustion is what gives you more power. nitrous is considered a form of forced induction because you are increasing the amount of oxygen reacting with the gasoline.

In that video clip the car did not even look like it was in gear. it was just in park (look at the speed). i don't know the purpose for that video. i think when you use NO2 when you car is in neutral is makes the engine RPM increase because of the better combustion? yeah sure...

not 9-12hp....9-12 % gain that 10.8-14.4 hp gain...and since its not a drastic power gain you can use it as soon as you shift to second....using it in first might make too much wheel spin...but yet i don't kno cuz its not that big of a power gain. you can probably use it in any gear just don't use it over 4,000 rpm.

If oxygen burned we would be in a world of hurt anytime someone struck a match.

zlancer had it right....it helps the burning process due to the reactivity of the molecule.

Lol..... have you guys ever been to school? Would you know what would happen if you some how made a pure Oxygen tank heat up or light on fire? Well to answer these easy questions, I'll answer w/ on simple answer, YES it does burn, and yes, a flame, fire, whater u want to call it, it needs fuel, i.e.: wood, gas, and OXYGEN. Have you ever had a candle lit inside a cup? What happens when you completely cover the cup and prohibit any air from coming in? You get no FLAME OR FIRE!

Nitrous systems are just that, a system injecting Nitrous Oxide in (NO2) your car.
