It does vary from car to car (depending on what you've done with it).

Check yr fuel pressure differential when boosting, making sure it doesn't drop below 3. If it does, it could mean you are running lean and it might be necessary to upgrade the fueling system.

The directions for adjusting the ID3 is as follows:

Gain = 0
Set = 50

Now pull hard in 3rd gear or higher and see the boost levels.

Adjust the "set" values up/down and see the corresponding boost levels recorded. On my car, I am getting abt 1.5 with a 68 value on my JDM MR.

This is the "Set" boost level.

To adjust gain, use a value of abt 10-20 for the GAIN. This determines how quickly the boost levels are reached, but can cause spiking

Accelerate hard in 1st or 2nd gear and see how fast the Gain is, ensuring you do not spike too high or get a fuel cut.

based on those settings are you spiking @ all? your set seems a little high...but if it works for you thats great. these settings will vary depending on your mods so its very hard to compare apples to oranges. ive had to reset my settings many times as a result of mods and temperature changes.

Ditto.

The load you apply (sloping gradient or flat, how much weight you are hauling) also affects boost levels.

Gain seems kinda high if you are using a stock turbo. Wouldn't that spike a lot?

If possible do a record of yr boost levels to see if you are spiking. Make sure you see what boost levels you are holding and not just the peak (caused by spiking)

I am using bar levels for my boost units not psi, so not sure of the direct conversion factor.

When your mechanic tuned it, he could have been heavier or you or someone else was in the car with him and the load on the engine could have been higher. It could have been 21 pounds when he was tuning it. You should be able to tune it up a bit higher when you are driving alone to hit the same boost levels.

Ideally you should monitor the fuel pressure if you are boosting at consistently high levels. Get a fuel pressure sensor and monitor the fuel pressure differential if possible.

The fuel pressure differential = fuel pressure - boost

Ideally it should be at least 3, but under WOT, the fp differential can dip below 3 which would mean you are running very lean. That would be a good sign to back off the boost levels until you can upgrade the fueling system.
