do any of u guys own an RS model? i noticed its cheaper in price cuz its stripped down. i was wondering if this car came with A/C? i havent seen one up close before. i know the radio is ripped out. does it have a harness to install a radio inside later on?

 

i think it does have the harness, but theres no a/c. check out the mitsu website. it has all the info there

 

Does have A/C and the wiring for the radio and speakers is all there.

 

^What he said! does have AC and wires for radio. Also know that you will miss some other features:
1. No sport ABS, this was a big deal for me ....
2. No power windows or door locks
3. No paint of the door handles or side view mirrors ...
4. No spoiler

complete radio wiring harness - very easy radio install
Radio surround is from the regular lancer - cheap textured black instead of the regular Evo's fake aluminium
No rear wiper
No rear washer
No wing
No trunk interior

Black exterior mirrors
Less sound deadening

Also it doesnt have an arm rest and inside the door where the fabric is, is just plastic

 

and it cost 26k out the door on 04'!!!

Do they have cupholders? I like to work up a good buzz before I take on the twisties.

Or....you can do what I did and do a conversion to get the nice things back...

Power windows, power locks, armrest, visors with mirrors, keyless entry, dvd player with flip-up screen, JL Audio's all the way around including 10" sub, sound deadening, wing, and a bunch of other goodies for less than the "regular" EVO's cost. I then took the 3 grand LEFT and added 80 WHP. Up to you, depends if you like to work on your car or just buy one with everything done to it already.

I have an 04 RS and it is exactly what I wanted.

It has A/C and 3 mechanical/viscous limited slip differentials (well 1 torque biasing 2 lsd). No ABS
Those three things are the main reasons I bought the RS. To me it is a better Evo at a lower price. (note I said to me)

Then minus all that other stuff from the car that people have listed.

I added a modest Alpine radio and speaker in the stock locations.

Perfect car for me.

I was just laughing today remembering the time when and where I first saw a WRX in person and marvelling at the fact that I am driving home in a Lancer Evo VIII RS.

It can be rough on some who want some pampering. I am pretty far off the normal curve. I have commuted in a completely gutted Merkur XR, just the driver and passenger seats, dash, pedals, shifter, and wheel. Gutted for weight savings and used as an Ice racer a year or two later.

On long trips it can be a little rough on you. The tire and engine noise at highway cruise alone is fatiguing. Hard to talk to the girls sometimes when you have to lean over and roll down the window. Minor annoyances considering that 8 months in I still can't help but to smile when I walk out to the car in a parking lot.

So know what you are getting into. I think the 05's have some added features. Active center diff, aluminum roof, lighter trunk, lighter windshield??, and maybe a few other little things. Hopefully someone with an 05 can comment.

 

i bought mine and jus added a wing like i wanted all that power stuff to me means nothing.......i am very happy with my RS
