Discontinuing the EVO?
Discontinuing the EVO?
Service manager here in Portland heard from the Owner of the dealership, Mistsu is thinking about deleting the Evo, maybe after Evo IX or X or maybe before, seems there financial woes are hurting them. Just what I heard.

I think we are stuck with the Evo. I have also heard that they are going to expand the Evo line to the Colt and Outlander. I saw the turbo AWD Outlander in a Motor Trend...or was it Car and Driver?
Since they are not going to discontinue the Evo anytime soon, I hope someone builds a car that can compete with the production model. I am getting tired of seeing my car in all the magazines.

I highly doubt the EVO is the highest selling (volume) Mitsu. I'm sure they sell way more Lancers, Galants, Endeavors, etc. Actually, my dealer stopped stocking EVO's a year ago. Who knows and who cares? Actually, if Mitsu did discontinue the EVO, then it would make our EVOs a more valuable commodity.

apparently its costing Mistu more money to pump out Evo's, yes they are selling however they could producing Lancers at a faster rate and make a better profit, thats what the Service manager was told at least.
^ i agree....a domestic assembled import seems to get more presence among the top brass. I have no problem believing the Evolution would be discontinued....if they could be produced here, I think it would be a different story.....aparently their is a disconnect between Mitsu NA and the homeland office thus making some issue more notable (ie warrenty) If the car is discontinued or going to be based off a chassis requiring diferent (new) part numbers, then I would be worried. Parts availability are the corner stone of any good street car
Take for instance the Getrag out of the 3000GT....good luck getting parts for it if it goes....hence fewer ive been seeing in the track (from what I am remebering 5yrs ago to now) On the flipside, look and Honda...they cross reference many parts and the parts chain is long and fruitfull. Just my opinion.......Oh well, I still love my Evo.
