downpipe and o2 question

with the rrm downpipe do you have to modify anything to get the o2 sensor to fit or does it just go in?

it screws right in
BUT
it WILL turn on the service light (check engine)
to turn it off you have trick the o2 sensor by modifying the hole...
try this:

take the old hole and weld it on top of the new one this will raise the sensor so it will still read volume but not as much as too alert the computer of a modification....

call me crazy but this works on any car....

Actually this is wrong!!! I just went through all this on a previous thread. Screw in the most forward O2 sensor into the downpipe like normal. Second sensor back, just follow the "how-to" and use the anti-foulers. So far it's working for me.

reTro is right - it's the lack of the 2nd O2 that sets the CEL...can also be "fixed" by using an 02 simm (tricks the ECU into thinking the 2nd 02 is still there and operational).

anti fowler

yes yes, i tried this fix and it worked for me. im sure its working for retro after he corrected the location of where he used his fowlers the first time. what u do is go to auto zone and ask the peoples for a set of 18 mm spark plug fowlers. then u gotta get a 1/2 drill bit and drill the heck out of one of them. now combine em together. stick the o2 sensor in it and place em like normal in ur downpipe. it should work.

I'm not entirely sure about this, but here's my best guess - they're used as adapters for old engines to allow them to use new spark plugs. Something about some old cars having larger spark plugs than what are made now or something. Google wasn't very helpful.

Yeah, after I relocated the foulers to the second sensor, my CEL hasn't come back on yet after 1,000mi.
