Is it normal to have rust on a brand new engine? I have quite a bit of rust on my brand new engine - it seems that many new evo's have this problem. And how will the rust affect performance, if at all?

 

if its on the header its normal and dont worry

 

Anything steel or iron will rust.. the exhaust manifold and heat shield will be the two most obvious places you will see it.. you'll also see it on your brake disks if the car has been sitting.. This is normal..
