k&n typhoon intake problems

what's up?
I own a '03 evo and over the winter while the car was stored I purchased a few toys. The typhoon intake, rsr downpipe, rsr cat back exhaust, and a ls authority short throw shifter, with bushings. My problem i'm having when the intake is installed and i get on the gas around 3500 rpm the motor just falls on it's face then it comes back to life (it takes it awhile to get back on it's feet). You can hear the turbo spooling hard then just dies. After that the motor just seems powerless for a little while longer. It's like it's cutting it self out, i've put the stock intake back in and the car runs like a bat out of hell. I've had the stock intake swapped out a couple of times with the k&n, triple checked all my clamps and hoses to ensure they are seated and properly tightened. I also called the k&n tech line and they sent me a water repellent dew rag for the filter. They said it would decrease airflow by approximately 2-3%. That obviously worked as good as it did before. I would really appreciate some helpful advise in this matter because i'd like to use the parts i've got money into my ride.
Thanks
P.S. I don't notice any loss of rpm's on the tach when it cuts out.

I'd search on the k&n typhoon, LOTS of people have reported problems with it. If it's not too late try and get your money back...
