i don't know if you know this but i'll say it anyway. the lancers don't do very well with NOS. i've seen a couple of cases of blown pistos so far. one with only a 50 shot. just to let you know.

ya stock the motor cant take a 50 it just melts the pistons maybee if you got new pistons and rods and stuff? but is it really worth it id rather save for a turbo and know engine will live longer then on a 50shot of nos lol i know nos is cheaper but not if u blow your engine

why would you want to put nos in your car...you know if you put that kind of mod in your car you are going to have to change everything in that engine, and plus just one shot on nitrous is like running your engine about 1000 miles all ready per shot..so if I were you, I'll think about it you know for near future if you really like your car and want to keep it a little longer...I'm just looking out for you.....

It all depends on the setup. I know plenty of people with all kinds of nitrous setups running from a moderate 50 shot to a massive 150 shot. If its intellegently installed there shouldnt be to many problems. Well, unless the 4g93 compression is really that high.

Id say save your money and and go F/I. Yeah NOS is nice and cheap but I say to many people.......are you really gonna be using this on the street? Come on now!!! If you want power go turbo then you will have constant power all the time not a large boost for a few seconds.

I met a guy a couple of weeks ago that blew 2 motors in his '02 Lancer while using a 55 shot of NOS. He told me that the pistons and rings have to be changed to handle NOS.

Blew it twice... that was me. The pistons cannot handle the NOS that is true but neither can the ECU. After indepth investigation i found out the other reason my piston's went. Ask any true NOS runner and the big thing is Timing. When you shoot you need to retard timing. Usually on a 50 shot the stock ECU will compensate and retard the timing automatically. On bigger shots you need to retard timing... sometimes up to 10 degrees. This prevents detonation. Detonation is what is granading the pistons on the lancer when NOS is concerned. If you go Forged you will live longer as the top ring won't break easily like stock. However you still will have failure if you don't retard timing which is a tough case with the lancer. Detonation will bend the top ring land on Forged pistons actually crushing the top ring. This leads to premature where of the ring and cylinder wall. BAD, BAD, BAD. If you want to go NOS go forged pistons at min. Then get Stand alone system so under boost you can retard the timing. I've found a 50 shot on lancer needs 2 degrees retarded dispite what the manufacturer says. After i blew mine twice do you think ZEX(my nos manuf.) gave me any money??? ROFLOL!! Just follow what i've said and get pistons plus way to retard timing if you want to go NOS. For the money i'd still say ZEX was the best system i've seen for 4cyl vehicles. You can get them for around $450. Good luck!

NOS

Yes i own a NOS system and i have a 02 Lancer i have 2 tanks 10lbs a peace with purge and i dont recomend it unless u have the money to make ur engine handle it if u leave it stock it will smoke a piston and ur clutch so if ur gonna run it talk to RRM they will hook ya up with everything but boy is NOS fun
