Hey guys, I was wondering if it would be possible to have a mechanic or a shop install a functional passenger airbag into a car that doesnt have a passenger airbag to begin with. I know it would be difficult because of the things that make airbags deploy etc...I was looking into a 1993 RX-7 but I noticed that they dont have passenger airbags, which is weird. I know someone is going to answer, "anything is possible with money." but that doesnt really help unless you have an estimate of what it would cost.

I don't think so. I think it'd have to be a factory install, since it's pretty regulated by the gov't. The placement, etc. would have to be tested and perfect.
