Bushing questions

Hi all,
someone recommended me to get Shift linkage and shifter base bushing from Kartboy but i do not know exactly what it does.
does it increase performance?
what's the use of the bushings actually?

thanks,

The bushings are made out of a hard material (depends on who you buy them from) and they replace the stock rubber bushings. Basically, they take all of the iffy-ness out of shifting and make each shift much more solid, precise, and they make it so that you don't question what gear you're going into. They have nothing to do with performance or length of throw, it's all feel, but guarunteed you will make faster, more decisive shifts and you'll be way less likely to miss a gear.

This all being said from an outsider's perspective, as I haven't ordered mine yet. IMO if you want to improve your shift, all you need is these. If you install them and then decide it's still not good enough (perfectionist), then sure, go for a short shifter. But from what I've heard, these improve it a huge amount, especially for the money.

There are two sets of bushings from Kartboy. One set is for the shift linkage under the hood; and the other is for the shifter base inside of the car.

I've installed the linkage bushings. It's easy and the shifts are more firm and precise. Basically, the stock bushings are metal with a rubber grommet filler. Mitsu uses rubber to dampen vibration and reduce wear on the linkage and tranny. Cheap mod with good results.

One word of advice. If you do any work under the hood, do yourself a favor and file down the edge of the radiator shroud. It's sharp as a b****. I think I lost a pint of blood when my socket wrench slipped as I was torquing something down.
