hey alive 307 -

where did you find that pic? does someone make that for the lancer? i've been trying to find an intake like that. yes. it works. why wouldn't it? to me, it only seems like the most logical place for a CAI. that's where they normally put the intercooler.

let me know. thanks.

the pic didnt load for me, but i am guessing you are talking about the front mount CAI that looks like an intercooler. im pretty sure they work fine, but the quality of the filter is unknown? and where would you be able to buy a replacement filter? im pretty sure if will get pretty dirty, really fast! i'd go with the big namers Injen or AEM my .02

That looks really neat. If it came with a good filter, K&N or some other equivalent quaility filter i am sure it would be pretty darn good.

People sell them on ebay from time to time. That would be far from my first choice for an effective CAI. Extended piping, exposed filter element, more bends...lovely.

EDIT: Not to mention there's already a thread or two on this thing and this induction would be, by no means, forced.

For clarification, the only means of forced induction you're likely to see are super and turbocharging.

so i went to the website...

the intake comes with a shield that is supposed to help protect it in "harsh" weather (rain/sleet/snow). and as far as i can tell, it wouldn't have any more bends than the AEM or Injen setup; that picture is just an example, not specifically for the Lancer.

one more thing. what if you turned the filter backwards when you set it up? i would think that it would be fine as far as dirt and weather go, and still low enough to get cooler air.

anyhow, i emailed them to see if they even carry it, or any other products for the Lancer for that matter.

In San Antonio we wouldn't be able to use it because when it rains it FLOODS, if the water goes up over the front bumper you like it does here you would be screwed

No one's even mentioning the obvious... this thing has nearly no surface area. Panels like this are have the least amount of surface area compared to filter size. Hard to explain my point, but, that in a cone filter, everything pretty much has the same amount of distance to travel as long once it enters the element. Something like that, it varies. Anyway.
