Question Can't Decide on which car to purchase

I have just recently graduated high school(class of 2005) and I currently have a 2005 Pontiac G6 and I'm not really into it so my mom said i could trade it in...so i was thinking on either a STi or an EVO(Because my G6 is in the $30,000 range).....I was wondering if you guys could give me the pros and cons on both to help my decision.(Don't be biast please)
P.S.- is there any real difference between an RS, VIII, or a MR(I am leaning towards the MR)

::Edit:: One last thing about your front mounted intercooler....doesnt it get all dinged up and stuff since there is no protection from rocks or any other debris?

if you listen to the sti people or people who have no idea because they have never driven either a lot of people just look at the hp numbers instead of all out performance and experience. however the evo is the best choice, because you can do so much to it, but also the looks are better and just having rims on you evo sets that mother****** off.

Stick to your Pontiac G6, you'll probably be disappointed with an STi/Evo ... they are not luxury, it's far more expensive to maintain then you think, they will cost you far more in insurance at your age then it's worth. Honestly, don't bother, just as Mitsubishi says, "This isn't a video game" ...

the japanese government will not allow mitsubishi to go bankrupt i know that much. as for the sti. stock it has nice numbers. it'll beat the evo by mayb 0.1 second. interior is nice. but that is basically it. the evo handles awsome. i test drove both, and the evo by far surpasses them. the interior is crappy but its simple and not crowded. (in the sti, it felt a lil cramped, the evo feels very spacious). now when it comes to modding, the evo is just simply great. you can get power from bolt ons jsut like that. the sti, the headers are on the side and if you wanna do any work there, you ahve to take the whole engine out. also, the sti doesnt respond that well to bolt ons as evos. hoep this helps. any questions just pm me

Good advice, I would also be concerned about the money you are going to lose on the trade. Get ready to bend over cause you are going to get screwed on the trade.

Best of luck

just go for a BMW.....sounds like you can afford it and it'll give you the best of both worlds.

How will you use the car?

Go test drive them both.

If you will mod the car get the evo GSR. 5 speed works better with more HP. 6 speed in MR keeps the stock turbo set on boil. Unless you will track the car, the RS is noiser and has no a/c.

STI is said to have a stronger driveline so if you dump the clutch a lot and are worried about it get the STI.

Otherwise both are great cars.

FMIC seems to do ok. Some guys put a finer mesh with the screen. I've had no problems.

Depends...

Make sure you get to drive both before you decide! Mostly I think it comes down to driver preference...I personally like the evo better not just because I have one, but because I like the way it drives better, and it is more rare than the sti. I can't tell you how many sti's I see around, but I only know of 3 evos in my area. But some people I know got an STI because of the warranty problems with Mitsu, so that is also something to consider. If you plan to autox or go to the track, Mitsu is a ***** with warranties.

My 2 cents.

That's the exact decision I am facing. There are so many good things about both vehicles from my perspective:

EVO

Cast iron block
Leather seats (SSL)
More room
A nice spoiler
More precise steering

STI

Better looking console & gauges
More torque in the lower gears
6sp MT (if you don't compare against MR)

It's a tough decision, but I think EVO wins out. Just my .02

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
Go to college. Eh, the G6, there are other cars out there that can give you more now. Just get an Evo X or XI down the road. By the way, Evos need attention and $. Even when stock there is an expense. Not to mention $$$ insurance.

But if you want to know....
STi - nice, monster hood scope (can be a bit much), small back seat, 6 spd was geared off (more track than street, depends on what you want) in MI insurance was actually higher an the Evo, and costs more to mod.

Evo - nice, more low key front end (ignoring the FMIC), fits 4 comfortably, I felt it was faster then the STi when test driving, 5 spd is slick, mods really open up the 05's. (and yes the FMIC does get beat up from rocks and bugs, remember its basically a radiator)

Other cars to check if you have the cash -
*Newer GTO, 2006+
New Mustang GT
Nissan 350Z
