Is my 03 Evo VIII a GSR??
i saw many evo 8 gsr here in manila and it has ayc/acd with 6-speed transmission original LHD. i dont know why we americans always get a downgraded version,
oh well at least we have an evo now and for that im happy
so i dont know if our evos would be considered as GSRs. my evo 6 tme though is an RS version

No! The GSR was never offered in the US through MMNA. The EVO VIII may be similar to the GSR but that doesn't make it one. Just check the MMNA website and you will see that the three models offered here are the MR, RS, and Evolution VIII.

But US-spec MR doesn't have AYC ....but it's still called MR
STi's have a 2.5L engine....still called STi.
Badging and equipment don't have to match perfectly, especially in different markets. The USDM Evo VIII is close enough to be considered GSR.

i had seen lots of evo VIII GSRs in manila and they all have ayc/acd and 6-speed. the MR has ayc, and the RS still has a spoiler but running on 15" steel rims and available only in white. but for the USDM which are lacking the parts, they still call it the "MR Edition" and the "RS". FYI, the Japan and Euro RS models still have their wings, except they run on steel rims. they are only available in white.
I always thought that the USDM model wasn't even called the VIII, much less GSR, since it's not our 8th incarnation. It's just simply the "Lancer Evolution". Although I have the UK Evolution VIII badge on the back
