300 whp Evo and 300 whp Sti..

are they dead even? I have noticed most of you evo owners have 300 whp -350whp with very minimal mods.. that is sick!! Unfortunatly I can't get the evo in Canada. But I have a sti with 300 whp I was curious to know if a evo with 300 whp would be exactly the same with even drivers? I understand that evo's bone stock dyny 210 whp(correct me if I am wrong) and stock sti's (mine ) 235whp.
what are you guys with 300 whp doing 1/4 mile times in?
Man.. I wish the evo was available in Canada..
sorry of this is a NOOB questions..
Thanks

Btw- My mods to achieve 300 whp are Ecutek and 3" Tbe and Gt spec headers..
how pathetic is that...lol
all u need is a Tbe and a reflash and u have the same power.

Well depending on the dyno, I've heard stock evo's dynoing at 250 whp.

Sti's with equal hp are not quite as fast as the evo in the 1/4. I believe it is because of the extra shift the sti's have to make.

The STi is NO slouch off the line and through the 8th mile. They can get out of the hole really well and are more forgiving to launch, etc. The 6 speed, while hurting the top end of the track w/ the extra shift, does great things for them in the 1/8th (much like an MR).

The evo would most likely win because it lighter than the Sti therefore better power to weight

It really depends on the type of dyno. On a Mustang Dyno, stock Evos can read 210 or so, but on a Dynojet, they can read 220-230 (03/04). The 05s dyno even higher, though. I dyno'd 248 stock on a Dynojet, and I'll be dynoing with my listed mods in a week. It's unfortunate that I'll be dynoing in the high heat/humidity, but I expect it to be 280-290. If I get 300, I'll be pretty happy. My times on pump gas with this setup are 12.64 (best) and 107.2mph (best). With the same mods on 104/93 oct mix, I got down to 12.22 (best) and 110.71 (best), but the guess would be more like 320whp. I can't give specifics until next week, though, as far as dyno numbers.

Oh, and this is on the 6spd...

Evo's have are rated at alightly less power then the STI, for instance the 03' models, EVO-271 hp and STI 300 hp. I have heard many different results from various testers in quarter mile times- depending if its a standing or launchin quarter mile. The Evo has always came out on top. Ranging from .1 to .5 of second leands in the 1/4 mile time. The evolution has very aggressive gearing thats what puts it on top.

With equal WHP, and equally skilled drivers, theoretically the Evo should win every time. Its lighter, cant get around that.

the EVO with 5 speed could be faster just cuz STI will need to shift more which going to be like .2 sec slower, but usually when STI with 300 awhp, it will have more tq than EVO . so i say if hp is the same, then tq is the key
